Cristiano Ronaldo's team Portugal in quarter-finals after 16 years

Portugal has made it to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 with a bang.

Portugal defeated Switzerland 6–1 in the pre-quarterfinal match played late on 6 December.

Now in the quarter-finals, Portugal will face Morocco, who made a big upset by defeating France.

Portugal's team reached the quarter-finals after 16 years i.e. for the first time after the year 2006.

In this match, the coach of Portugal took a big decision not to include captain Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting eleven.

In place of Ronaldo, Goncalo Ramos got a place in the starting XI and scored a brilliant hat-trick.

This is the first time since 2008 that Ronaldo could not be a part of Portugal's starting XI in any Euro or World Cup match.

Now it will be known only on December 10 whether Portugal can reach the semi-finals or not.
