UPSC Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria for UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023 are as follos:

Nationality: 1. The candidate must be a citizen of India, or 2. A subject of Nepal, Bhutan or 3. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit: 1. The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years on 1st August 2023. 2. The maximum age limit is 32 years on 1st August 2023, meaning the candidate should not have been born earlier than 2nd August 1991 and later than 1st August 2002. 3. Age relaxation is provided for certain categories such as SC/ST/OBC/PwD, Ex-servicemen, etc.

Educational Qualification: 1. The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university. 2. Candidates who are appearing for their final year degree examination can also apply but must provide proof of passing the examination at the time of the Main Exam application. 3. Candidates who have obtained professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government or its equivalent are also eligible.

Number of Attempts: 1. The number of attempts for the Civil Services Exam is limited to six for General Category candidates. 2. The number of attempts for OBC candidates is nine, and there is no such restriction for SC/ST candidates.

Physical Standards: There are certain physical standards set by the UPSC, which a candidate needs to fulfill to be eligible for certain services.
