The foundation of World Food Day was laid by the member countries of the Food and Agriculture Organization at the 20th conference of 1979.

World Food Day is celebrated on 16 October every year since 1981, after the consent of the United Nations Organization (UNO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

This event of the Food and Agriculture Organization is organized in about 150 countries around the world.

World Food Day is organized every year with a new and special theme.

Several international organizations such as the World Food Program and the International Fund for Agricultural Development simultaneously organize events on a global scale.

These organizations also work to provide food to the poor and needy all over the world.

In the year 2020, the World Food Program and the International Agricultural Development Fund were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work.
